(IIA) are here to help you navigate the process of getting you the best policy that meets your needs. Whether you live in Philadelphia, Allentown or Pittsburgh, IIA can help you find a personal auto insurance policy that best meets your needs.
Understanding Pennsylvania Requirements for Auto Insurance
In Pennsylvania, the minimum state liability requirement is:
- $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident for bodily injury
- $5,000 for property damage
Meeting these requirements is crucial, and our Spanish bilingual agents are available to provide quotes and guide you through the process of buying a new Pennsylvania car insurance policy.
Personal Auto Insurance Coverage Options
Personal auto insurance is designed to help pay for damages to your personal vehicle, and property damage and injuries to others caused by an accident. Here are some key coverage options available:
- Liability coverage: Is mandatory by the state and is used to pay for property damage and bodily injury claims to others if you're at fault in an accident.
- Collision coverage: Helps pay for damages to your car resulting from a collision with another vehicle or object.
- Comprehensive coverage: Helps cover non-collision-related damage such as theft, vandalism, or natural disasters.
- Personal injury protection (PIP) also known as First Party Benefits (FPB): Is required by law with a minimum limit of $5,000. It helps pay for medical expenses.
- Uninsured/Underinsured motorist coverage (UM/UIM): Helps pay for your medical expenses if you're involved in an accident with an at-fault driver who is underinsured or not insured at all. This coverage may be rejected by the client in Pennsylvania.
Full/Limited Tort
As part of your auto insurance policy in Pennsylvania, you will be given the option to carry either Full Tort or Limited Tort Uninsured/Underinsured motorist coverage options, which allow you to seek financial compensation for injuries caused by other drivers. Under Limited Tort, you and other household members covered under the policy may seek recovery for all medical and other out-of-pocket expenses, but not for pain and suffering or other nonmonetary damages unless the injuries suffered fall within the definition of “serious injury” as set forth in the policy, or unless one of several other exceptions noted in the policy applies.
Under Full Tort, you and other household members covered under the policy may seek recovery for all medical and other out-of-pocket expenses and may also seek financial compensation for pain and suffering and other nonmonetary damages as a result of injuries caused by other drivers. Each comes with their respective stipulations. Speak with an IIA agent to discuss which one best suits your needs.
