IIA Donates to Ethan Allen Elementary

For nearly a century Ethan Allen School has dedicated itself to fostering an environment of experiential instruction. This distinguished building holds the honor of being on the National Register of Historic Places list and serves a community of diverse students. As a key part of the Philadelphia School District, Ethan Allen serves a population of 24% Hispanics and 20% English Learners. Infinity Insurance Agency, Inc. (IIA) is proud to support this institution of multicultural learning and academic talent.

Ethan Allen Elementary School is fortunate to educate a robust student population of nearly 1,000 students. Given the school’s growing student body, it is only natural that academic supplies and equipment become worn down and need replacing over time. Due to financial constraints, the purchasing of new learning equipment can quickly become a burden on both educators and the district. This April IIA donated $500 to Ms. Crawford’s 4th-grade science class to purchase new equipment and classroom materials. As a staunch supporter of education, IIA was more than happy to aid Ethan Allen students on their journey of intellectual curiosity and academic excellence.

Ms. Crawford will be utilizing the donated funds to purchase supplies for her class’s Cells and Ecosystems unit. Supplies and materials such as 3D cell models, specialized rocks, ecosystem books, and classroom games and puzzles will allow students to engage in interactive learning and hands-on initiatives. Through practices such as building 3D models, students can grasp a deeper understanding of the building blocks of life. This type of learning has been found to increase student engagement and knowledge retention, in addition to improving critical thinking skills.

Cells are the smallest unit of life and understanding their structure and ecosystems allows students to develop a solid foundation of the biological sciences. Through the creation of tangible 3D cellular models, students can more thoroughly understand how the different parts of a cell, from the nucleus to the cytoplasm interact. While a cell can be as small as a micrometer, their intricate design and functions play a crucial role in every living organism.

IIA hopes that these immersive games and practices will inspire curiosity and a passion for science in the students at Ethan Allen High School. Donations to the sciences provide a pathway to inspire and raise future innovators, educators, and visionaries of tomorrow. These early science classes offer a unique opportunity to engage young students and spark an early love of learning and science. By providing students with access to proper supplies and textbooks they are encouraged to develop invaluable problem-solving skills and possibly pursue passions and paths of study they would have never previously entertained. Who knows where Marie Curie or Neil deGrasse Tyson would have been without the proper encouragement and support?
